APPLICATIONS

MEMBRANE TOUCH SWITCH

A membrane switch is an electrical switch for turning a circuit on and off. It differs from a mechanical switch, which is usually made of silver/carbon/copper and plastic parts: a membrane switch is a circuit printed on PET or ITO. The ink used for screen printing is usually copper / silver / graphite filled and therefore conductive. Membrane switches are user-equipment interface utilities that allow for the communication of commands from users to electronic devices. Membrane switches can be thought of as one category of interface utilities alongside touch screens, plastic keyboards, toggle switches and many other kinds of control systems. Interface utilities can be as simple as tactile switches for controlling lighting, and they can be as complicated as membrane keyboards and switch panels for use with computers.

WEARABLE ELECTRONICS

Wearable technology, wearables, fashionable technology, wearable devices, tech togs, or fashion electronics are clothing and accessories incorporating computer and advanced electronic technologies. The designs often incorporate practical functions and features. Wearable devices such as activity trackers are a good example of the Internet of Things, since they are part of the network of physical objects or "things" embedded with electronics, software, sensors and connectivity to enable objects to exchange data with a manufacturer, operator and/or other connected devices, without requiring human intervention.

TOUCHSCREEN/CAPACITIVE SWITCH

A touchscreen is an important source of input device and output device normally layered on the top of an electronic visual display of an information processing system. A user can give input or control the information processing system through simple or multi-touch gestures by touching the screen with a special stylus and/or one or more fingers. Some touchscreens use ordinary or specially coated gloves to work while others use a special stylus/pen only. The user can use the touchscreen to react to what is displayed and to control how it is displayed; for example, zooming to increase the text size. The touchscreen enables the user to interact directly with what is displayed, rather than using a mouse, touchpad, or any other intermediate device (other than a stylus, which is optional for most modern touchscreens).

RFID SMART CARD

A contactless smart card is a contactless 13.56-MHz credential whose dimensions are credit-card size. Its embedded integrated circuits can store and sometimes process data and communicate with a terminal via radio waves. There are two broad categories of contactless smart cards. Memory cards contain non-volatile memory storage components, and perhaps some specific security logic. Contactless smart cards do contain read-only RFID called CSN (Card Serial Number) or UID, and a re-writeable smart card microchip that can be transcribed via radio waves.

HEATING (PTC/NON-PTC)

With a wide array of material solutions for self-limiting heaters, DuPont offers the most cost-effective and high-performing option for creators of self-limiting resistive-based heating systems. Auto OEMs depend on material solutions from DuPont for a wide variety of applications where low temperature, controlled thermal gradients, uniform heating and localized temperature control are crucial, without requiring complex electronic controllers or feedback loops. The unique positive temperature coefficient of resistance (PTC) carbon compositions, coupled with high conductivity polymer thick film (PTF) silver conductors, along with industry-leading system compatibility at both substrate level (PET, PEN, polyimide) and adhesive layers deliver a self-limiting heater solution that is both reliable and simple.

MEDICAL

The lure of flexible and printed electronics has captured the attention of medical researchers and entrepreneurs alike, as the market steps up to accept the technology. The idea of low cost functional flexible systems such as sensors, health monitors, and skin-applied electronics that can be mass produced is attractive for the medical markets. It appears that more products are in the pipeline, and flexible and printed electronics are starting to fulfill their promise.

IN-MOLD

Meet the perfect union of form and function. One that combines an innovative, more stretchable material with dramatic advancements in electronic ink to give interface designers new creative freedom, without any compromise in meeting functional switching needs. And because these new electronic inks work with existing in-mold decorative processes, there’s no need for costly re-tooling. Now you can create products with greater eye appeal, simplicity, and performance—all at the same time.

CARBON CONDUCTORS

How and low resistance carbon inks, including carbon compositions for screen-printed  electroluminescent (EL) lamps.

DIELECTRICS

UV and non-UV curable inks with wide process latitude, rapid curing, and good adhesion.

CIRCUIT BOARD MATERIALS

The DuPont CB Series of screen-printed ink materials are used for additive, low temperature processing on both rigid and flexible printed circuit boards (PCBs). These products provide increased yields and reduce processing steps.
